I first experienced the magic of photography when I was 11, developing my first photos with my father in our basement darkroom.  I vividly remember my excitement watching the images I had recently shot slowly and magically appear on the paper submerged in the chemicals in front of me in the dim red light in the ceiling.

My father was a radiologist, and an accomplished amateur photographer and painter.  We enjoyed many hours together both taking photographs and developing them in our "basement" darkroom.

I have been taking photographs ever since he taught me the basics of photography and portraiture, often incorporating those photographs into my art work including into my electronic, mixed media sculptures.

Having co-founded two venture funded Internet companies and being an avid user of technology and the Internet, I now shoot exclusively with digital cameras.  And my darkroom is now our computers and the "magic" of Wacom tablets and Adobe's Photoshop.

But what is most important to me is the image.

And, the pure pleasure I get from working with my subjects - getting to know them, learning their stories, helping them to relax in front of the lens - and capturing some part of their essence in my work.
